IBS SYMPTOMS

IBS (Irritable Bowel Syndrome) is a term used to describe a combination of these symptoms. There is no medical test for IBS, it is based off an analysis of your symptoms by your GP. Unfortunately once you can a diagnosis there is no treatment plan to help.

This is because we need to look at it from a nutrition perspective. IBS can continuously be triggered by the food we eat so this is the best place to start. We also need to consider the health of the gut as this may be the underlying cause. The GP may send you for testing and everything comes back normal, which is good news but doesn’t give you any answers. This is why we need to consider functional testing - maybe the health of the gut is working sub-optimally. This is why we created this programme. to get more clarity on your IBS.

Hi, I’m Katherine Kelly

A Registered Nutritional Therapist specialising in gut health.

My mission to help individuals gain a better understanding of their gut health issues and ultimately help them to manage it going forward. I have been working clinical practice for over 5 years and have seen nearly 200 hundred clients.

I have seen clients with a range and varying degree of digestive symptoms and health conditions. My aim is to uncover any underlying issues that are contributing to that persons symptoms. Often I’ll use functional testing to investigate the gut microbiome, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, candida, the oral microbiome and more. I’ll combine this with a clinical symptom, diet and lifestyle assessment. This will give me a full picture of what is contributing to a persons digestive issues.

From here a nutritional stragey is created and I combine this with health coaching to support my clients in achieving their goals.

It is a tried and tested method to get to the bottom of ongoing digestive symptoms and ultimately improve the health of the gut microbiome. So that it functions better and your overall health improves.

We will analyse your gut microbes through advanced functional stool testing. This will help us identify what may be causing your symptoms. From here we will create a personalised nutrition and lifestyle plan for you and this will be updated throughout the programme. Ongoing support will be provided through fortnightly catch-ups and unlimited messaging.

We have seen many clients who have seen their GP over and over and gone through medical testing to come out with no answers at the end of it all. Our approach is different in that it looks at missing microbes in the gut, not just disease causing microbes. A lack of good microbes in the gut can also result in digestive symptoms however this testing is only done through functional labs, making the programme different to traditional medicine.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is The time commitment of the programme?

The total length of the programme is 12 weeks. In terms of consultations is the time commitment is 3.5hrs, spread over fortnightly appointments. These are done online so there is no travel time. The at home stool is quick and easy and should only take 10 minutes. The other time commitments are food shopping and cooking which shouldn’t be additional to what you do already. We are simply changing the foods bought and consumed.

Can I Pay In Instalments?

Yes we have a payment plan available which Katherine will give more information on.

Will I have to follow a very restrictive diet?

This is really personal for everyone and the meal suggestions and recipes are really straight forward and easy to follow. They are not intended to be restrictive however we do tend to remove foods that trigger your symptoms. The ultimate goal is to diversify the diet - not restrict it.

I am Not sure if I have IBS - Is this programme still for me?

That is fine and the programme may still be suitable. The best thing to do is book a free discovery call with Katherine and she can advise on this.

I Am taking medications - will I still be able to do this programme?

Yes, all medications interactions will be checked and the programme will still be safe to do.

I have other medical conditions along with IBS - Will I still be able to do this programme?

That is fine and the programme may still be suitable. We would recommend booking a call with Katherine to discuss this before signing up. There are some health conditions we don’t work with. This includes: eating disorders, kidney disease and cancer.
